Prepare your motorhome for the Winter !

When your camping car is immobilized temporarily or for a longer period it is important to respect a few rules which will ensure that you find it in good condition for you further travels. Be careful to the following points:

WATER

The whole water circuit must be completely emptied, this will avoid damage due to freezing or mildew. For this, you need to empty clean and grey water.

CAUTION : If you Vehicle is equipped with an external shower, make sure you also empty the water circuit from this shower.

GAS

While the camping car is immobilized, it is preferable to disconnect the gas bottles and store them in a well-ventilated place.

ELECTRICITY

Before the camping-car is immobilized, it is vital to check the cleanness of the battery terminals.

During the immobilization of the camping car, there is a small residual current consumption. To avoid a deep discharge, it is vital to adopt one of the two proposed solutions:

  • Solution 1: Storage without possible access to a 230V socket:
Disconnect both batteries (living space and engine) and store them in a temperate place). It is still necessary to charge them regularly once a month, for 24 hours.

  • Solution 2: Storage with access to a 230V socket:
It is possible to leave the 2 batteries in position, but it is then necessary to recharge them once a month, for 24 hours, by connecting the camping- car to a 230V socket with an extension lead.

HEATING AND HOT WATER PRODUCTION

The TRUMA Combi / Alde heating and hot water production units must be switched off and drained.

It is recommended that the water heater should be descaled regularly, at least once a year

DOMESTIC APPLIANCES

All these appliances must be thoroughly cleaned. Their gas or electricity supplies must be cut off. Leave the doors ajar to avoid bad smells and the appearance of mildew.

OUTSIDE STORAGE

Remove the cushions and mattresses and store them in a dry, temperate place. It is important to come and air the living space once a month during the wintering period by opening wide for a few minutes all doors and windows

FURNITURE

During the wintering season, do not leave perishable products in the cupboards and leave all furniture doors ajar.

You will find all detailed information with the WINTERING section of your user’s manual.
